DPPM Hamzanwadi University Attends Kickoff for Strengthening Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Program
East Lombok, November 11-12, 2025 — DPPM Hamzanwadi University attended an invitation to a multi-stakeholder discussion kickoff for the community-based program to strengthen the protection of Indonesian migrant workers, organized by the Human Resource Development and Study Institute (Lakpesdam) of PBNU. The event took place over two days at Green Ori Hotel Tetebatu, East Lombok.
This program is part of Lakpesdam PBNU's efforts to conduct studies and strengthen the protection of Indonesian migrant workers through multi-party collaboration, including higher education institutions. Hamzanwadi University, through DPPM, also provided input on the importance of strengthening the protection of Indonesian migrant workers.
In the discussion, DPPM Hamzanwadi University emphasized that the issue of migrant worker protection is a long-standing challenge that still requires serious attention, even though the government has recently issued policies that are more responsive to this issue. One of the key inputs from DPPM was that Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) issues, specifically points 1, 2, and 8, should be the main agenda in the program to strengthen migrant worker protection.
DPPM also emphasized that the future sustainability of migrant workers, including their empowerment after returning from working abroad, should be the main focus of every protection program. This aligns with Hamzanwadi University's mission to make tangible contributions through research, community service, and capacity-building for society.
This event is expected to be an initial step toward realizing more comprehensive and community-based protection for Indonesian migrant workers, while also strengthening the role of universities in addressing strategic national issues.
