Hamzanwadi University Holds Public Lecture with Professor from Malaysia to Enhance Scientific Publication Capabilities

Selong, October 27, 2025 – Hamzanwadi University held a public lecture titled "How to Publish High-Impact Scholarly Articles in Reputable Journals" on Monday (27/10/2025) in the Micro Teaching Lab Room 2. This event was organized as part of efforts to improve the quality of scientific writing for both lecturers and postgraduate students.

The main speaker was Prof. Dr. Azmi Mohamed, a Professor in Chemistry from Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Malaysia, who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Hamzanwadi University. The event was attended by representative lecturers from various study programs as well as postgraduate students.

In his presentation, Prof. Azmi emphasized that writing scientific papers is indeed not easy, but it is an important—even dominant—part of Master's (S2) and Doctoral (S3) studies. "We must continuously practice and strive to be able to write well," he said.

He also reminded everyone of the importance of being cautious when choosing a journal for publication. "Identify which journals are reputable and which are considered predatory journals. Publishing in the wrong place can harm an academic career," he stressed.

Prof. Azmi, who is an alumnus of the University of Bristol, England, also shared his experiences during his studies in the UK and in supervising postgraduate students at UPSI. He explained in detail the stages of writing a scientific article—from manuscript preparation and the submission process, to the article being accepted and published.

Responding to this event, Dr. Shahibul Ahyan, M.Pd., Director of Research and Community Service (DPPM) at Hamzanwadi University, expressed his appreciation to Prof. Azmi. "We thank you for the knowledge and experience shared. This is a concrete step by DPPM to support the enhancement of the academic capacity of our academic community," he said.

Furthermore, Dr. Shahibul added that this public lecture will not end here. "We will follow up with intensive technical mentoring to ensure the knowledge gained can be truly applied in writing and publishing quality scientific works."

This activity is expected to ignite a new spirit for lecturers and students of Hamzanwadi University to actively write and publish their research findings in reputable international journals.
