Hamzanwadi University Collaborates with NTB Provincial Government on Village Information System Program for Alleviating Extreme Poverty
Mataram, November 11, 2025 — Hamzanwadi University demonstrated its commitment to supporting the eradication of extreme poverty through collaboration with the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government in the "Desa Berdaya" (Empowered Village) program and the development of the Village Information System (Sistem Informasi Desa - SID).
The "Desa Berdaya" program is an initiative by the NTB Provincial Government together with SKALA, aimed at strengthening the foundation of village development based on transformative, innovative, graduative, and collaborative principles, while optimizing the orchestration of existing resources to solve various problems and explore village potential.
In this collaboration, Hamzanwadi University plays an active role through its Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat - PKM) activities, focusing on village digitalization. Through the development of the Village Information System (SID), the university strives to provide an accurate database regarding village potential, demographics, and the socio-economic conditions of the community. This data serves as a crucial foundation for the government in making strategic decisions to address issues in villages with extreme poverty levels.
The Director of Hamzanwadi University stated that the university has a moral and academic responsibility to provide tangible contributions to society through research and community service involving lecturers and students.
"We are committed to continuously contributing to the empowerment of rural communities through digital innovation and cross-sectoral collaboration. This is part of the university's role in realizing independent, advanced, and empowered villages," he said.
The event, held on November 11 in Mataram City, was attended by representatives from the Institute for Research and Community Service (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat - LPPM) of nine higher education institutions across NTB, as well as local government elements such as the NTB Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), the Communication and Information Office, and the Home Affairs Office.
This spirit of collaboration between universities and local governments is expected to make a significant contribution in addressing various issues at the village level, particularly in efforts to reduce the rate of extreme poverty in the West Nusa Tenggara region.
