Vice Minister of Kemdiktisaintek Visits Hamzanwadi University, Encourages Strengthening of Research and Innovation Culture
Pancor, November 22, 2025 — The Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), Prof. Stella Christe, Ph.D., conducted a working visit to Hamzanwadi University as part of her agenda in East Lombok. The Vice Minister was welcomed directly by the Rector of Hamzanwadi University, Dr. Hj. Sitti Rohmi Djalilah, M.Pd., along with the leadership board and academic community in the Rectorate Meeting Room. The event lasted for approximately 1.5 hours.
In her opening remarks, the Rector of Hamzanwadi University expressed her delight at the Vice Minister's arrival and reaffirmed the university's commitment to strengthening research and innovation. She explained that Hamzanwadi University has established a specific directorate to manage research as a form of the institution's seriousness in developing research based on community needs.
"We hope the presence of Madam Vice Minister will motivate lecturers and students to continue innovating and providing solutions to various societal problems," stated the Rector.
Meanwhile, the Director of Research and Community Service (DPPM) at Hamzanwadi University, Shahibul Ahyan, presented the development of the university's research, including program priorities, strengthening the impactful research ecosystem, and the challenges lecturers face in conducting research. He also expressed hope that the government would provide strategic support for research development on campus.
In her address, the Vice Minister of Kemdiktisaintek appreciated Hamzanwadi University's achievements in research, publications, and community service. She emphasized the importance of an innovative and impactful research culture as a foundation for national economic growth.
Prof. Stella gave examples of various major global companies born from in-depth research and continuous innovation. She encouraged lecturers to improve the quality of their research and align their studies with regional needs.
"Innovation is born from ideas and technologies that solve real problems. Strong research will result in significant economic and social impact," she explained.
On this occasion, the Vice Minister also affirmed the importance of research-based teaching that encourages students to think critically and solve problems. She reminded that scientific publication is a crucial part of academic communication and a lecturer's responsibility.
Furthermore, the Vice Minister emphasized the flexibility in implementing the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tridarma), which allows lecturers to contribute according to their interests and competencies. She also encouraged Hamzanwadi University to continue focusing on strategic research relevant to regional needs and to build partnerships with policymakers.
The meeting was also attended by a number of figures and officials, including: the Head of LLDIKTI Region VIII, the Regional Secretary of East Lombok Regency, the Chairperson of the YPH-PPD NWDI Pancor Foundation, the leadership board of Hamzanwadi University, deans, research lecturers, students, and a media team.
