AI-Assisted Scientific Article Writing Workshop Held at Hamzanwadi University
East Lombok, October 29, 2025 — Hamzanwadi University held a Workshop on Scientific Article Writing Assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Wednesday (10/29/2025). This activity was aimed at lecturers who are in the process of preparing scientific articles for publication in reputable international journals.
The main speaker was Associate Professor Dr. Muhammad Noorazlan Abd Aziz, a Physics lecturer from Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Malaysia, who also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Hamzanwadi University. In his presentation, Dr. Azlan emphasized the importance of adapting to rapidly advancing technological developments. "In today's digital era, lecturers are required to be technologically literate, including understanding and utilizing AI wisely in academic activities," he said.
This workshop covered four main points regarding the use of AI in academic writing: (1) selecting the appropriate AI platform, (2) ethical boundaries in its use—what can and cannot be done, (3) effective ways to use AI as a writing assistant, and (4) techniques for designing accurate prompts to produce quality output. In addition, participants were also introduced to the use of AI for data analysis and scientific manuscript preparation.
Dr. Shahibul Ahyan, M.Pd., Director of Research and Community Service at Hamzanwadi University, stressed that AI should be positioned as a tool, not a replacement for the role of academics. "The use of AI in scientific writing must still adhere to academic principles and research ethics. We need to ensure that originality, integrity, and intellectual responsibility remain in the hands of the author," he said.
This activity is expected to enhance the capacity of lecturers in utilizing technology productively and responsibly, while also encouraging an increase in the quantity and quality of scientific publications from Hamzanwadi University at the international level.
