KKN Student Reception 2026: The Start of a Collaborative Community Service Initiative in 35 Villages

East Lombok, May 4, 2026 — A total of 35 villages have officially been designated as the sites for the 2026 Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata, KKN), which commenced with a student reception activity on Monday (May 4). The event was held simultaneously across all villages and was attended by Field Supervising Lecturers (DPL), KKN students, and local village governments, serving as an initial step toward building synergy in community service.

This year’s KKN presents a unique dynamic with the participation of international students from Windesheim University, the Netherlands. Their involvement began on May 2, 2026, at Universitas Hamzanwadi, where they engaged in discussions and cultural exchange activities with local students, laying the foundational groundwork for cross-country collaboration.

One of the KKN implementation sites involving international students is Tetebatu Selatan Village. At this location, the students not only adapted to a new environment but also immediately took part in discussions and brainstorming sessions concerning environmental issues, particularly the problem of waste disposal in the river.

The activities continued with a direct site visit to the river to gain a real-world understanding of field conditions. Throughout this process, the students actively interacted with local residents, building warm communication while also gathering information as a basis for formulating solutions.

Through this series of activities, the 2026 KKN is expected to become not just a service program, but also a platform for global collaboration capable of generating innovative ideas and sustainable solutions for village communities.
