Visit and Coordination for the Establishment of an Intellectual Property Center by Kantor Wilayah Kementerian Hukum NTB at Universitas Hamzanwadi

Pancor, February 26, 2026 — Kantor Wilayah Kementerian Hukum Nusa Tenggara Barat conducted a visit and coordination meeting for the establishment of an Intellectual Property (IP) Center at Universitas Hamzanwadi on Thursday (26/2), held in the university's meeting room. The event was attended by the staff of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM). The visit aimed to strengthen the ecosystem of research, innovation, and intellectual property protection within the university environment, while also encouraging the formation of an IP Center as a service and assistance hub for IP registration for the academic community.

In his remarks, the Director of DPPM at Universitas Hamzanwadi expressed his appreciation for the visit by Kantor Wilayah Kementerian Hukum NTB. He emphasized that previously, coordination related to IP was conducted with the ministry in Jakarta, but now the process has become more effective with the availability of services in the Mataram region.

During the presentation session, the Head of the Communal Intellectual Property Division explained the stages of selection and assessment of IP applications, which are carried out meticulously to ensure the authenticity and feasibility of a work. He also outlined the differences between a regular patent and a simple patent. A regular patent is defined as an invention that is genuinely new and has never existed before, whereas a simple patent constitutes a development or improvement of an existing invention.

In addition to coordinating the establishment of the IP Center, Kantor Wilayah Kementerian Hukum NTB also extended an invitation to the Patent Dissemination activity, which will be held on March 3, 2026. This activity is expected to enhance the understanding of lecturers and researchers regarding the importance of legal protection for research results and innovations. Through this initiative, it is hoped that a sustainable synergy will be established between Universitas Hamzanwadi and Kantor Wilayah Kementerian Hukum NTB in strengthening a culture of innovative and legally protected research.
